Welcome to David Friedman’s World of NBA Basketball, Chess, and Musings on Assorted Other Topics

I am a father, writer, chess player, and attorney. For many years, I have maintained three blogs on diverse topics, and I decided to combine the three blogs into one Substack with three sections so that interested readers can find all of my writing in one place. I write most frequently about NBA basketball, but I also write about other sports, including chess. I am a tournament chess player who reached a USCF peak of 2190, just 10 points short of the coveted National Master title. I often write about my “Journey To National Master,” detailing my attempt to reach the 2200 level as a veteran chess player. I also digress into other topics, including philosophy, foreign policy, and even a little bit of pop culture (I am a big Prince fan).
